B. Graham Once Said ....
(The cheap stocks may later become over
priced ; The expensive stocks may turn cheap. at some point in its life
almost every stock is a bargin ; at another time , it will be expensive
. Although there are good
and bad companies ,there is no such things as a good stock;there are
only good stock price , which come and go)

On February 16, 1990, Cisco Systems
went public (with a market capitalization of $224 million) and was
listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange. On August 28, 1990.
The phenomenal growth of the Internet
in mid-to-late 1990s quickly changed the telecom landscape. As the
Internet Protocol (IP) became widely adopted, the importance of
multi-protocol routing declined. Nevertheless, Cisco managed to catch
the Internet wave, with products ranging from modem access shelves
(AS5200) to core GSR routers that quickly became vital to Internet
service providers and by 1998 gave Cisco de facto monopoly in this
critical segment.
In late March 2000, at the height of
the dot-com bubble, Cisco became the most valuable company in the world
till date , with a market capitalization of more than US$540 billion.
If any investor bought Cisco's stock in
IPO & kept it till March 2000 earned a gain of 103697% or 217%
annual return.Over its previous four fiscal quarters,Cisco had generated
$14.9 billion in revenues and $2.5 bllion in earnings. The stock was
trading at 219 times Cisco's net income ,one of the highes PE ratios
accorded to a large company.

PM may woo US with FDI in e-commerce ventures
Overseas investment in e-commerce could
be one of the bargaining chips Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has to
offer on his current trip to the US, where he is scheduled to meet
President Barack Obama and address the United Nations General Assembly.
Indian officials have been working on a
proposal to allow up to 51% foreign direct investment in e-commerce
ventures, something US retailers such as Amazon and eBay have been
lobbying hard for. Such a move will bring it on a par with FDI allowed
in multi-brand retailing.
The government allowed FDI in multi-brand retail last year, but clarified that this didn't apply to e-commerce. However, 100% FDI is allowed in business-to-business, or B2B, e-commerce through the automatic route.
DIPP has already held meetings with Nasscom, which has strongly recommended FDI in e-commerce to support fund-starved Indian ventures.

Congress is leaving itself just one day
tomorrow to end a budget stalemate that raises the risk of the first
government shutdown in 17 years as Republicans sought to shift blame for
the gridlock to Democrats.
Concerns that the budget impasse will
hurt economic growth helped push the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index to
its first weekly decline since August. The index fell 0.4 percent to
1,691.75 on Sept. 27, and dropped 1.1 percent last week. The rate on
10-year Treasury notes fell three basis points to 2.62 percent. About 20
House Republicans gathered today in front of the Senate side of the
U.S. Capitol and urged senators to return and take up the spending bill.
They accused Democrats of wanting a shutdown to score political points.
Budget spending must be agreed by
Congress before October 1, to prevent a government shutdown which could
involve federal employees facing unpaid temporary leave.
